Recovery Suit Size Guide for Cats
Choosing the right size for your cat's recovery suit is essential for comfort, mobility, and a smooth post-surgery recovery.
At Purrlandia, our cat recovery suits are designed as a gentle, cone-free alternative to traditional recovery collars, helping your cat heal comfortably while protecting surgical areas.
How to Measure Your Cat
Before ordering your cat surgery recovery suit, we recommend measuring your cat in 3 key areas:
1. Chest Girth
Measure around the widest part of your cat's chest, just behind the front legs.
2. Neck Girth
Measure around the base of the neck where a collar would normally sit.
3. Back Length
Measure from the base of the neck to the beginning of the tail along the spine.
Tip: Measuring while your cat is standing will give the most accurate results.
Size Chart
| Size | Chest Girth (cm) | Back Length (cm) | Neck Girth (cm) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 28 | 23 | 21 |
| Medium | 34 | 27 | 25 |
| Large | 38 | 36 | 27 |
Finding the Best Fit
✨ Most average adult cats fit comfortably in Medium (M).
If your cat falls between sizes, we recommend choosing the larger size for extra comfort and mobility during recovery.
The recovery suit should fit snugly without restricting movement or breathing.
Your cat should still be able to:
- Sleep comfortably
- Move naturally
- Use the litter tray
- Eat and drink normally
Please allow a 0.5–1 cm difference due to manual measurements.

Real recovery stories
Cats recovering happily
Recovery should feel like a hug, not a punishment.
We started Purrlandia after watching our own cats struggle with the cone. Every suit is made and checked with that memory in mind, because we know exactly how it feels to want them comfortable.
THE HONEST COMPARISON

The Cone
Bumps into walls & doorways
Makes eating & drinking hard

Stress & anxiety spikes
Recovery Suit

BEFORE YOU BUY
Honest questions, answered
Can my cat use the litter box while wearing it?
Yes. The suit is designed with a rear opening so your cat can use the litter box normally without removing it. Most cats adjust within the first day.
How do I choose the right size?
Sizing is by weight: S (2–4 kg), M (4–6 kg), L (6–8 kg). If your cat is between sizes, choose the larger one for an easier fit over bandages. A full size guide is linked above.
Will it actually stop licking and scratching?
The suit gently covers the surgery area so your cat can't directly reach it, helping protect stitches. For wounds in unusual spots, check with your vet on placement.
Can my cat sleep comfortably in it?
Yes. The soft, breathable cotton is made for all-day and overnight wear. Most cats rest far more easily than they do with a hard plastic cone.
How do I wash it?
Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent, lay flat to dry, and avoid bleach. It's reusable, so a quick wash between wears keeps it fresh.
How long will my cat need to wear it?
Recovery varies, but most cats wear it for the healing window your vet recommends, often around 7–14 days after surgery. Always follow your vet's guidance.
